Jamshedpur Oct 2: An Assistant Sub-Inspector of police Krishna Sahu committed suicide by shooting himself at his residence under the Jeraikela Thana area in West Singhbhum early on Wednesday morning.

A resident of Kulabira village in Gumla district, Sahu (45) used his service revolver to commit suicide.

The ASI died on the spot in a single shot, triggering sensation among the fellow policemen. Soon after the incident, Jeraikela Thana OC, Ankit Kumar and SDPO, Paras Rana reached the spot and had talked to the family members over the cellphone regarding the tragedy.

The deceased cop who was promoted to the post of ASI from the post of Havildar was posted in Jeraikela Thana in 2021. Ever since he continued to remain posted there.

According to sources in the police parlance, Krishna Sahu was under tremendous work pressure and would hardly get leave to go over to his family residing in Gumla.

As a result of the situation the ASI who was the father of two sons and as many daughters would remain under stress.

The fellow policemen and Police Association functionaries claimed Krishna Sahu might have committed suicide due to stress under which he was compelled to work.

Senior police officers are, however, trying to find out the reason behind the suicide.
