Dhanbad, Oct 26: The Dhanbad district assembly elections wing seized Rs 6.40 lakh in cash and 13 kg of silver ornaments, including utensils, at the Jharkhand-Bengal inter-state check post, approximately 45 km from the district headquarters, late Friday night.

Inter-state check post-seizure

An official reported that during the vehicle checks at the check post around 2:30 am on Saturday, the Maithon OP police team recovered over 13 kg of silver ornaments and utensils from a Mercedes car travelling from Kolkata to Begusarai district in Bihar.

Maithon OP in-charge Akristi Aman informed the media that the car owner, Keshav Kumar, claimed he had purchased the silver items in Kolkata and was transporting them to Begusarai. However, he failed to produce the purchase documents for the goods. Consequently, the Maithon police seized the silver ornaments, utensils, and the car, handing them over to the enforcement officials for further investigation.
