Mumbai, Nov 25: A special team of four members has been constituted by the Mumbai Police to look into the ‘Mahadev betting app case’.
The team comprises specialists in cyber technology and financial crimes.
The Mumbai crime branch has been transferred the FIR that was originally filed at the Matunga police station.
Case filed against promoters of Mahadev betting app
In connection with the Mahadev betting app case, a case has been filed against the promoters of the Mahadev Book Betting App, namely Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal, Shubham Soni and 29 others.

Fraud worth Rs 15,000 crore
Allegations of 15,000 crore rupees worth of fraud, illicit hawala, and cryptocurrency transactions are made in this case. The Crime Branch is currently conducting an investigation into the case.
Mumbai Police booked 32 persons
Earlier on November 14, Mumbai Police filed a case alleging a connection to the betting app scam against 32 individuals, including Mohit Burman, the chairman of Dabur, and Gaurav Burman, the director of Dabur.
The First Information Report (FIR) pertaining to the case was lodged at Matunga police station.
“Matunga police have registered a case against more than 30 people, including Mahadev Betting App promoter Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal and Shubh Soni, under various sections of fraud and gambling, based on the complaint of Prakash Bankar, a social worker from Matunga,” Mumbai police stated.

According to the details provided, social activist Bankar alleges that individuals have been swindled amounting to Rs 15,000 crore.
According to the police, the accused are suspected of receiving funds through hawala transactions.
Under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, and 120 (B) of the IPC, the police have filed a case against actor Sahil Khan, Gaurav Burman, Mohit Burman and others.
ED probing the case
The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) is investigating the Mahadev Book Online Betting APP syndicate in which the promoters of this betting syndicate are allegedly sitting abroad and remotely running thousands of panels across India with the help of their friends and associates.
As per the ED, it has apprehended four individuals and confiscated proceeds of crime exceeding Rs 450 Crore. Additionally, the agency has lodged a prosecution complaint against 14 accused individuals.
