In an era where political defection and self-serving politics have become commonplace, there still exist leaders and workers who distinguish themselves through their selflessness and dedication to their organizations. The Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024 showcased several such examples. At a time when leaders often prioritize personal ambitions and stand against their own parties, these warriors emerged, prioritizing their parties and organizations over personal gains.

These leaders demonstrated that politics is not merely about winning elections or attaining positions but is deeply rooted in dedication to organizational ideals. By setting aside personal ambitions, they worked tirelessly to strengthen their parties. This article highlights the stories of such leaders who not only fortified their organizations but also set a new direction for Indian politics.

Keshav Mahto Kamlesh (Congress State President)

Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, the State President of Jharkhand Congress and a seasoned leader, decided not to contest the elections despite being a former MLA. Instead, he focused entirely on strengthening the organization and supporting party candidates. Under his leadership, Congress workers exhibited remarkable unity. His decision reflects his maturity and commitment to the party. Kamlesh, had he chosen, could have contested from any constituency, given his influence in ticket distribution. However, his selfless leadership will undoubtedly be remembered as a symbol of sacrifice.

Dr. Amardeep Yadav (BJP OBC Morcha President)

Dr. Amardeep Yadav, the State President of BJP’s OBC Morcha, has a strong support base in Hazaribagh. Despite serving three terms as Morcha President, he refrained from contesting the elections, choosing instead to prioritize the party. His unwavering efforts in promoting BJP candidates in constituencies like Barhi and Hazaribagh were extraordinary and instrumental in securing strong electoral outcomes.

Rajesh Thakur (Senior Congress Leader)

Rajesh Thakur, a senior Congress leader and former State President, was a strong contender for the Bokaro Assembly seat. Known for his popularity and organizational skills, he chose to support the party after not receiving a ticket. His disciplined approach and dedication bolstered Congress’s efforts, setting an example of sacrifice and commitment.

Pawan Sahu (BJP Kisan Morcha President)

Pawan Sahu, the President of BJP’s Kisan Morcha, was a strong contender for constituencies like Barkagaon and Barkatha. Despite the potential, he decided against contesting and instead campaigned across the state, significantly contributing to the party’s success, particularly in the Sindri region, where his work for BJP candidate Tara Devi stands out.

Rama Khalkho (Congress Leader)

Rama Khalkho, a prominent contender from the Khijri Assembly seat, exhibited immense dedication despite not receiving a ticket. She actively campaigned in regions like Simdega and Kolebira, showing that party success mattered more to her than personal ambition. Her commitment will be etched in golden letters.

Shashank Raj (BJP Yuva Morcha President)

Shashank Raj, the President of BJP’s Yuva Morcha, was a strong contender for constituencies like Hatia and Hazaribagh. However, he chose not to contest, instead focusing on strengthening the youth wing and campaigning for the party. His unpublicized efforts will undoubtedly benefit the BJP significantly.

Gunjan Marandi (BJP Leader)

Gunjan Marandi, a key leader of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), was a strong contender for the Dumka Assembly seat. Despite his popularity and family legacy, he supported former MP Sunil Soren wholeheartedly after Soren received the ticket, exemplifying his dedication to the party.

Santosh Mahto (JKLM Leader)

Santosh Mahto, a prominent Kurmi leader from Ramgarh, showcased unwavering loyalty to his party, Jharkhand Loktantrik Kranti Morcha (JKLM). Despite being a strong contender, he actively campaigned for the party’s candidate, highlighting the importance of unity and organizational strength.

Vimal Marandi (BJP Leader)

Vimal Marandi, former National General Secretary of ABVP and a prominent leader, was a strong contender for the Jama Assembly seat. Even after not receiving a ticket, he supported the BJP candidate, showcasing his dedication and prioritizing party interests over personal ambitions.

Bhairav Singh (BJP Leader)

Bhairav Singh, a strong contender from the Ranchi Assembly seat, chose not to contest the elections and focused entirely on campaigning for the BJP. Known for his immense popularity among youth and ability to garner substantial votes, his decision to respect the party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) reflects his commitment to organizational values.

Munchun Rai (BJP Leader)

Munchun Rai, a prominent leader from Ranchi, initially filed his nomination but later withdrew it in favor of the party’s interests. His actions underscore his dedication to the organization and his willingness to set aside personal aspirations for collective success.

Dilip Baraiyk (BJP Leader)

Dilip Baraiyk, a strong contender from the Gumla Assembly seat, actively supported Sudarshan Bhagat’s candidacy. Despite facing offers and temptations, he chose not to file his nomination, instead dedicating himself to strengthening the BJP’s presence in the region.

The Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024 demonstrated that loyalty and organizational commitment are still alive in politics. These leaders prioritized their parties’ principles over personal ambitions.
