The petitioner, during the hearing, argued that prominent leaders like Chandrababu Naidu and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had also raised concerns about potential tampering with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

In response, the bench remarked that concerns about EVM tampering often arise only when elections are lost.

“When Chandrababu Naidu or Mr Reddy lost, they say that EVMs are tampered and when they won, they don’t say anything. How can we see this? We are dismissing this. This is not the place where you argue all of this,” the bench stated.

Paul argued that EVMs could be tampered with, posing a threat to democracy, and suggested India adopt paper ballots like the United States. He also stated that figures like Elon Musk had raised concerns about EVM tampering.
