Dhanbad, Dec 4: Patients visiting AIIMS Deoghar will soon have access to dedicated public transport services from various points in the district, easing their commute to the hospital.

Deoghar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Vishal Sagar has instructed the District Transport Officer to arrange transportation facilities for patients travelling from Jasidih Railway Junction, Deoghar Bus Stand, and other key locations within the district.

Deoghar AIIMS is located in Devipur block, approximately 10 kilometres from the district headquarters and 8-9 kilometres from Jasidih Railway Station.

Patients, especially those from economically weaker sections and remote areas, face significant challenges in reaching the hospital due to the lack of direct public transportation.

Current travel options include shared autos, which charge ₹40-50 from Jasidih and ₹70-80 from Deoghar city, posing a financial burden on poor patients.

Steps to address transportation issues

To address these difficulties, DC Vishal Sagar convened a review meeting on Wednesday, focusing on improving facilities for AIIMS Deoghar. He directed District Transport Officer Amar John Aich to establish affordable and accessible transport services from key locations as soon as possible.

Water supply to AIIMS to be enhanced

Additionally, the DC emphasized the need to enhance the water supply to the hospital. Currently, AIIMS Deoghar receives 7 lakh litres of water daily, which will soon be increased to 30 lakh litres per day to meet growing demands.

Fire safety measures at AIIMS

Fire safety at the AIIMS campus was highlighted as a priority during the meeting. The DC informed that one fire tender and dedicated fire safety personnel have already been stationed at the campus to handle emergencies and ensure patient and staff safety.

Key officials, including Additional Collector Hira Kumar, AIIMS Deputy Director, District Transport Officer Amar John Aich, officers from the Drinking Water Division, Fire Services, and Assistant Public Relations Officer Rohit Kumar Vidyarthi, attended the meeting.
