Daltonganj, Dec. 7: Under the RDSS (revamped distribution sector scheme) 2,600 km of bare electricity wires will be covered in the Daltonganj electricity division.
Daltonganj division Executive Engineer Raj Kumar told this correspondent “Various schemes are listed under the RDSS. The high priority is accorded to the covering of the bare electricity wire. 2600 km of bare electricity wire are to be covered by the end of 2026 May.”
There are three modes of covering bare electricity wires. These are armour, jacket and insulation. It’s the insulation that is done most.

Raj Kumar further said under RDSS 11KV line is to be stretched 85 km here in the Daltonganj division.
Almost equal number of transformers, 86 are to be installed in the RDSS. Raj Kumar explained that since the distribution sector scheme is a revamped one, it is to be done within the existing structural framework.
“What you say renovation or strengthening, the revamped distribution sector scheme is just like that,” reminded Raj Kumar.

BJP MP Palamu Vishnu Dayal Ram is also batting for outreach of the electricity to the far end of human habitation which is yet to be electrified.
There are 2,27,000 electricity consumers in the Daltonganj electricity division and around 100,000 in the Chhaterpur electricity division.
The executive engineer said under the RDSS there is feeder segregation. 24 km are in for agriculture.
The RDSS aims to reduce technical and commercial losses in India by 12 to 15 per cent. 186 AV switch boxes are to be set up under the RDSS.
Loss and theft of electricity are a major bane. The electricity officials just go hyperactive in summer lodging spate of FIRs and disconnection in power theft instances.
There is a Home Guard training centre where the electricity department has more than 2 crores of rupees dues for non-payment of the bills over the years. End
