Ranchi, Dec 8: Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Gupta today directed police officers, particularly officers in charge and DSPs to resolve the common citizens’ complaints quickly and effectively.
He directed them to coordinate with citizens, Mundas, Mankis, journalists and villagers, to listen to the problems of the common people and take immediate action.
DGP holds meeting in Chaibasa
In a meeting with senior police officers held in Chaibasa for the complete eradication of extremism, he said special care should be taken to ensure that police are accessible to the common people. “Also, strict disciplinary action should be taken against the police officers and personnel who misbehave with the common people,” he added.

He also asked the SP to transfer Munshis, guards and readers/bodyguards of the police inspector/sub-divisional police officer posted in one place for a long time.
Identify Maoists’ supporters
The DGP asked them to curb the activities of Naxalites, identify the suppliers and those who provide necessary material and support to the Naxalites and take necessary action against them as per law.
“All police station in-charges/sub-divisional police officers will make all their subordinate police officers/personnel aware of the detailed information and documentation regarding the Naxal squad and will ensure the required action by classifying Naxal supporters, police supporters and other types of supporters by following the principle of “Know your Enemy and Know your Friends” at their level,” he added.
Benefits under govt rehabilitation scheme
“All police station in-charges/sub-divisional police officers should ensure the desired action to work promptly to provide benefits under the rehabilitation scheme of the Jharkhand government to provide proper compensation to the dependents of the common citizens killed in Naxal violence in West Singhbhum and to execute all pending cases on priority,” he said.
Identify dreaded Naxal squads
The DGP asked all police station in-charges/sub-divisional police officers to identify the dreaded Naxal squads of their respective areas and ensure the work related to the announcement of rewards against them on a priority basis.
“The police station in charge will himself take over the investigation of all important cases. If this is not followed, action will be taken against the police station in charge,” he warned.
He also asked them to run various types of educational and health-related programmes under community policing in the highly extremist-affected areas.
The DGP asked them to connect more and more people to the mainstream by making the campaign and surrender policy being run against Naxalites more effective and by publicising it widely.
Apart from the DGP. CRPF IG Saket Kumar Singh, IG Akhilesh Jha, IG (Operation) Amol Vinukant Homkar, DIG, Jharkhand Jaguar Indrajit Mahatha, DIG Special branch Kartik S., DIG Manoj Ratan, DIG CRPF Jaideep Keshri, among others, attended the meeting.
