Mumbai, Nov 29: Former city mayor and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Datta Dalvi was arrested by Mumbai Police on Wednesday for allegedly using derogatory language against Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, officials stated.
Case filed under IPC
The leader was the subject of a case filed at the Bhandup Police Station under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which led to the action.

“A case against Dalvi was registered under 153A(1)(a), 153B(1)(b), 153A(1)(C), 294, 504 and 505 of the IPC,” the police stated.
Remarks made at a meeting
During a meeting arranged by the Uddhav Thackeray faction near Bhandup Police station, Dutta Dalvi reportedly employed offensive language directed at CM Eknath Shinde, as per the Bhandup Police.
“After that, a case was registered against Dalvi by the people of the Shinde faction,” Bhandup Police further stated.
