Dhanbad, Nov 29: A cement and iron rod trader identified as Krishna Mandal (36) was shot at in his shop in Amghata under Govindpur police station area, around 7 km away from here, today in the morning.
He was first admitted to nearby JP Hospital and later referred to Durgapur Mission Hospital, West Bengal in critical condition.

Two criminals fired bullets
A police official said that the incident occurred at around 11 am. Krishna Mandal was sitting alone in his Amghata-based shop near Dhanbad-Govindpur road when all of a sudden two bike-borne criminals arrived and fired on him.
Krishna Mandal received the bullet in his waist. The criminal also fired on the brother of the market owner, who rushed duly to the shop after hearing the firing sound but was missed.
Police probe
Getting information, Deputy Superintendent of Police (headquarter -1) Amar Kumar Pandey and Govindpur police station officer-in-charge Jitendra Kumar Singh reached the spot immediately and began the investigation.
Krishna Mandal was also involved in the land dealing business. The official said police are investigating the incident from different angles.
