THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

Dubai, Feb 20: India’s Shubman Gill with 796 rating points has once again ascended to the top of the ICC ODI batting rankings, surpassing former Pakistan captain Babar Azam.

This marks the second time Gill has secured the No.1 position, having previously overtaken Babar during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2023. His recent century against England in Ahmedabad played a crucial role in propelling him to the top spot.

Babar Azam now sits in second place, trailing Gill by 23 points, while India’s captain Rohit Sharma maintains third position, 45 points behind his fellow opener. Virat Kohli remains steady at sixth with 727 rating points.

In the bowling department, Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana with 680 rating points reaches the No.1 ranking for the first time, overtaking Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan. Rashid drops to second and remains just 11 points behind, eager to reclaim the top spot.

India’s Kuldeep Yadav moves up to fourth with 652 rating points, while South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj and New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner also make significant gains, securing sixth and seventh place, respectively.

Among all-rounders, Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi continues to lead the ODI rankings, with Santner advancing to sixth after an impressive performance, while India’s Ravindra Jadeja remains at 10th place with 217 rating points.
