New Delhi, Feb 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held delegation-level talks with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Delhi on Friday.

Before this, the two leaders met for a bilateral discussion at Hyderabad House. Their talks focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between India and the European Union. Ursula von der Leyen is currently on a two-day visit to India.

Before meeting with PM Modi, Ursula von der Leyen stated that the Free Trade Agreement between India and the European Union would be the largest of its kind in the world. She mentioned that both sides are considering strengthening it by the end of this year.

Speaking in the context of competition, she noted that the world is full of risks, but this modern version of competition presents an opportunity for Europe and India to enhance their partnership.

Addressing a think tank, Ursula von der Leyen, the top leader of this 27-nation bloc, said that the European Union is exploring the possibility of a future defense agreement with India, similar to its partnerships with Japan and South Korea.
