New Delhi, Dec 4: Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar revoked Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha’s suspension on Monday in response to a motion brought up by BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao.

The BJP Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha proposed that the suspension endured by the AAP MP thus far should be regarded as “sufficient punishment”, and suggested that the House contemplate lifting Raghav Chadha’s suspension effective today.

In response to the revocation of his suspension from the Parliament, AAP MP Raghav Chadha extended his gratitude to Jagdeep Dhankhar, the chairman of the Rajya Sabha, and the Supreme Court.

“During these 115 days of suspension, I received a lot of love and blessings from you people. You all gave me the courage to fight in my struggle,” Raghav Chadha stated.

Was suspended in August

On August 11, the AAP leader was suspended indefinitely from Parliament due to allegations that he did not ask some MPs for permission before deciding to include them in a proposed select committee to review the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023.

On the final day of the monsoon session, Chadha was placed under suspension pending the Privileges Committee’s report due to “gross violation of rules, misconduct, defiant attitude, and contemptuous conduct.”

Moved SC contesting suspension

Raghav Chadha, an AAP MP, then petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn his “indefinite” suspension from the Rajya Sabha, arguing that it was “arbitrary and illegal.”

The highest court had stated then that the decision to suspend an MP indefinitely could have a severe impact on the right of the public to have a representative of their choosing.
