Jamshedpur, March 3: Tata Steel Zoological Park (TSZP) celebrated the birth of two leopard offsprings (cub’s sex is not clear as babies are in close touch with the mother), and one Mandrill monkey baby (male) marking a significant achievement in its ongoing commitment to wildlife conservation and biodiversity preservation.

These newborn leopard cubs are the offspring of a pair of leopards that were recently brought to Tata Zoo from Nagpur Zoo as part of an animal exchange program, reinforcing collaborative efforts in species management and conservation.

Mandrills (Mandrillus sphinx), a vulnerable species known for their vibrant facial coloration and unique social structures, were originally brought to Tata Zoo from an esteemed zoological facility in Israel. Tata zoo has donated these animals to other zoos in India such as Green ZRRC, Jamnagar, Gujarat; North West Bengal safari, Siliguri and Tirupati zoo.

These newborns and their mother are currently under close observation by the zoo’s expert caretakers and veterinarians to ensure their well-being and smooth growth.

The birth of these leopard and mandrill monkey offspring is a testament to Tata Zoo’s dedication to providing a safe and nurturing environment for endangered species, ensuring they receive proper nutrition, medical care and an enriched habitat that closely resembles their natural surroundings.

Tata Zoo continues to implement the highest standards of animal care, emphasizing scientific management and sustainable conservation practices.
