Jamshedpur, March 4: Two rebels belonging to the outlawed Naxal-outfit PLFI were killed in an intra-outfit gunfight that took place at a forest stretch in the bordering area of West Singhbhum-Khunti districts on Monday.

The police on Tuesday morning recovered two bullet-riddled bodies lying at Murhu village located along the Fuljuri river under the Bandhgao thana area of West Singhbhum.

After the bullets-riddled bodies were recovered, the West Singhbhum police launched a search operation across the region having dense forest cover and found a dump of arms and ammunition at a little distance away from the spot where the bodies were found.

The bodies were later identified as that of Parbel Sande Purti and Ashik Tanti.

The arms and ammunition that were found include a regular pistol, magazines of 7.65 mm, live cartridges of 12 bore, levy receipt of PLFI, three mobile phones,  haversacks and Rs 402 in cash.

West Singhbhum SP Ashutosh Shekhar confirmed about the deaths of the two PLFI rebels.

The West Singhbhum SP said that some of the members of the outlawed outfit wanted to set up a separate group, triggering conflict in the outfit which resulted in the death of the two rebels in a gun battle between the PLFI’s rank and file.

The police have recovered the bodies and sent them to the Chaibasa Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
