THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

Ranchi, March 22: The shutdown called in Ranchi on Saturday had a mixed impact. There was heavy police deployment from the CM’s residence to Birsa Chowk.

Due to strict administrative measures, shutdown supporters were unable to block roads. However, in some areas, members of the tribal community were seen telling shopkeepers to close their establishments.

Many markets in the capital remained open, though some areas witnessed shops with their shutters down.

Shutdown supporters stopped with barricades

At Argora Chowk, a group of women protesters gathered and demanded to stage a sit-in at the intersection. However, the administration prevented them from reaching the main road by setting up barricades.

Meanwhile, the shutdown had little impact at Birsa Chowk, where shops remained open and traffic movement continued as usual.

Strict police vigil everywhere

Police forces have been deployed at major intersections and roads across the city to prevent any untoward incidents.

The administration stated that strict measures have been taken to maintain law and order, and no one will be allowed to enforce the shutdown forcibly.
