Jamshedpur, April 4: In an effort to foster environmental consciousness from an early age, Tarapore School organized Rhythm, an inter-school, non-competitive event based on the UN-declared International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation.

Bringing together young learners from 28 schools across Jamshedpur, the event seamlessly blended fun and learning to introduce children to the pressing issue of climate change.

Engaging Activities to Instill Climate Awareness

The Chief Guest for the event Ashu Tiwary, Principal of St. John’s High School, appreciated the efforts the school is taking to help the young minds understand the importance of environment. Uma Tiwary, Principal of Hill Top School along with Bodhanwala, the Chairman and the Vice Chairperson of the school also graced the event with their presence.

The little participants were taught a special theme song, reinforcing the need to protect glaciers. They enjoyed a puppet show, which conveyed the importance of glaciers and simple ways to conserve them. An animated PowerPoint presentation familiarized them with global warming and its impact on the environment.

Engaging Activities to Instill Climate Awareness

In keeping with the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes experiential learning, critical thinking, and environmental awareness, the event engaged children in interactive activities like: Building a nest like a penguin, Creating a snowman with artificial snow and Solving thematic puzzles

A live demonstration using a model illustrated how melting glaciers contribute to rising sea levels, affecting Arctic animals’ habitat—making complex concepts simple and relatable to young minds.

Through Rhythm, Tarapore School blended play-based learning with global awareness, ensuring that even the youngest learners develop a sense of responsibility towards the planet.
