Jamshedpur, April 14: The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued a severe weather warning for various parts of the state from April 14 to April 17.

Thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and gusty winds are expected to impact isolated areas due to prevailing atmospheric conditions.

April 14: Eastern parts of the state may experience hailstorms accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph.

North-eastern and adjoining central regions are also likely to face thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds (40-50 kmph).

Western parts may witness thunderstorms/lightning with slightly lower wind speeds of 30-40 kmph.

April 15: Eastern regions are again likely to be hit by hailstorms along with thunderstorms, lightning, and stronger winds (50-60 kmph).

Western and North-eastern regions may see thunderstorms and lightning with wind speeds ranging between 40-50 kmph.

April 16: Thunderstorms and lightning, accompanied by gusty winds (30-40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph), are expected to affect isolated parts across the state.

April 17: Similar weather conditions are expected to prevail in most parts of the state, excluding the western regions.

Meteorological Observations

A Western Disturbance as a trough in the middle to upper tropospheric levels is currently active, with its axis at 5.8 Km above mean sea level stretching along longitude 82°E to north of latitude 21°N.

Another trough runs from central Bihar to North Coastal Odisha, passing through Jharkhand at 3.1 Km above mean sea level.

Residents are advised to stay alert, avoid open areas during thunderstorms, and take necessary precautions against possible hail and strong winds.
