Jamshedpur, April 28: Thunderstorm and lightning activities accompanied by gusty winds are likely to affect isolated parts of Jharkhand over the next few days, according to a forecast issued by Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

The forecast warns of gusty winds reaching speed of 50-60 Kmph on April 28 and 29, and around 40-50 kmph on April 30 and May 1.

Heavy rainfall is also expected at isolated locations, particularly over the southern parts of the state on April 30 (Wednesday), and over the southwestern and adjoining central regions on May 1 (Thursday).

The Met office attributed the changing weather conditions to a trough of low pressure extending from central Uttar Pradesh to North Bangladesh across central Bihar, along with a Western Disturbance positioned in the middle tropospheric westerlies at around 5.8 Km above mean sea level, stretching roughly along Longitude 77°E north of Latitude 18°N.

Meanwhile, the maximum temperature across Jharkhand witnessed an abrupt fall. Jamshedpur recorded a significant 10-degree drop in daytime temperatures, settling at 32.6°C on Sunday.

In other major cities, Daltonganj recorded 37.6°C, while the state capital Ranchi logged a maximum temperature of 29.8°C.

The weather office has advised residents to remain alert to sudden changes in weather, including strong winds and heavy rainfall.
