Daltonganj, May 13: Vice Chancellor of Nilamber-Pitamber University (NPU), Dr. Prof. Dinesh Kumar Singh, has sought a precise and updated measurement of all land belonging to the university and its premier constituent unit, GLA College.

Expressing concern over the lack of accurate and reliable land records, Dr. Singh has made it clear that he does not trust outdated or paper-based data. Instead, he has emphasized the need for a real-time, on-ground survey to determine the exact extent of land owned by both NPU and GLA College.

No Panic for Lawful Residents, But Encroachers Will Be Answerable

Speaking to this correspondent he said, “We have written a letter to the DC Shashi Ranjan making a request to ensure Zameen Mapi (land measurement/survey) of the university and the college.”

“The measurement of the land is no prejudicial to anyone living either on the fringe of it but those who have made inroads to the university or college land will have to explain it, as law will take its own course,” added the VC.

“The university and the college reserve all their rights to know as to where and how far its land is. Let there be no one to be in any panic,” opined the VC.

Land Survey May Stir Resistance, But University Remains Resolute

The university understands that the measurement of the land will open a can of worms. Palamu has a long-standing tradition of resistance to zameen mapi by the vested interests on one pretext or the other. Again, zameen mapi is in many cases done under police presence too.

Once the land is demarcated and things found normal, then the university will go for the pillaring of it.

VC told this correspondent, “We don’t favour digging trench. Cemented pillars will do.”

What if the measurement of the land is found to be encroached upon or raided by the people with concrete infrastructures, to which a determined VC said, “There are provisions of laws to deal with.”

Sources said bulldozing of illegal infrastructure and facilities is now an acceptable practice pan-India. The university is committed to finding out the fate of its land.

Registrar Confirms Action Taken, Letter Sent to CO Sadar

Registrar in charge Dr S K Mishra informed, “Under orders of the VC, we are sending our letter to the CO Sadar with a copy to the Additional Collector for zameen mapi of the university and the GLA College.”

“Our VC has taken it on a prioritised level and hence our letter to the CO Sadar is most immediate too,” added the registrar in charge.
