Daltonganj, July 2: There is a boom in booking applications for the post of fourth-grade employment by registered post or speed post after nearly a week’s lull or slump.

Postal Superintendent S K Sangam told this correspondent on Wednesday, “A strong 7,000 eligibles booked their application envelopes in various post offices here in Palamu on Tuesday for the fourth-grade vacancies.”

Sangam said, “Around 2,000 did the same in Garhwa district and around 1700 in Latehar district on Tuesday.”

Shortage of ₹5 IPOs Pushes Candidates to Bank Drafts

Postal Superintendent conceded there is the issue of IPO (Indian Postal Service) of 5 rupees denomination as this is not available in the postal stock depot in Patna, Bihar, even from where the consignment of it comes to Jharkhand.

Candidates are to submit postal orders of two denominations, Rs 250 and Rs 125 or bank drafts of the same value.

As the IPO of 5 rupees is not available here in the Palamu division, the candidates are opting for the bank drafts. There are a large number of applicants who have given more value IPOs than required.

Postal Department Assures Timely Delivery Before Deadline

The Postal Superintendent assured delivery of all booked envelopes would be done well in time and there is nothing to worry about it.

The last date for filled forms to reach the employment office is July 5.

Postal Superintendent further assured that bookings done in the early hours of July 5 would be given a high-priority delivery so as to reach the employment office by 5 pm on the said day as fixed by the administration.

However, Sangam urged the applicants to play safe instead of darting to the last day, last date and last timeline. Sources said it’s far safer to book envelopes latest by July 4 and postal bags are readied with neck break speed.

Better Coordination Could Have Prevented Shortages

“We would have been more well prepared and equipped with the IPOs, stamps etc, had the local administration taken us into confidence ahead of the launching of this advertisement for the fourth-grade employment,” reiterated Sangam.

“There is no shortage of stamps in the Palamu division. Our postal teams are making tireless efforts to help the eligibles book their registered or speed post without much of a hassle,” reminded the Postal Superintendent.
