PINAKI MAJUMDAR
Jamshedpur, July 7: In a significant success against the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit, a joint security team comprising Chaibasa Police, Seraikela-Kharsawan Police, Jharkhand Jaguar, and the CRPF’s 60th Battalion recovered and safely neutralized 16 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during an intensive anti-Naxal operation in the dense forests of Toklo police station area, West Singhbhum.
The operation was launched based on intelligence inputs received by the Superintendent of Police, West Singhbhum, on July 6.

The inputs indicated the presence of top Maoist leaders — Misir Besra, Anmol, Mochu, Anal, Asim Mandal, Ajay Mahato, Sagen Angaria, Ashwin, Pintu Lohra, Chandan Lohra, Amit Hansda alias Upton, Jaykant, Rapa Munda, and others — who, along with their armed squads, were actively moving through the Saranda-Kolhan region with plans to carry out destructive activities.

Responding swiftly, a joint team was constituted and deployed for a search operation on July 7 in the forested areas between Toklo (West Singhbhum) and Dalbhanga OP (Seraikela-Kharsawan).
During the combing operation in the Kotsona and Langi hill areas, the team unearthed 16 IEDs — each weighing approximately 2 kg — planted by Maoist cadres to target security personnel and hinder ongoing operations.
