PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, July 11: A fresh spell of intense monsoon activity is set to impact several parts of Jharkhand over the next four days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across various regions of the state.

According to the latest weather bulletin, a low pressure area lies over southern Jharkhand and its neighbourhood.

The system is accompanied by a cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 Km above mean sea level.

Moreover, the monsoon trough passes through Daltonganj and the centre of this low-pressure zone, further enhancing rainfall prospects.

Day-wise Forecast

July 11: Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in north-western Jharkhand. Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds (30–40 Kmph) is also expected at isolated locations across the state.

July 12: Thunderstorm/lightning may occur at isolated places.

July 13: Heavy showers are likely over south-western and adjoining districts, along with thunderstorm activity across the state.

July 14: Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast for eastern districts. Thunderstorm/lightning is also likely at scattered locations.

A trough line running from southwest Uttar Pradesh to south Jharkhand, through northern Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, is further fueling this system between 0.9 and 1.5 Km above sea level.

Advisory

People, especially in low-lying and vulnerable areas, are advised to stay alert and follow safety guidelines issued by local authorities.

The persistent rainfall may lead to waterlogging and disruption in transport services.
