Bokaro, July 29: The four-day cultural festival ‘Tarang’ commenced on Tuesday at the senior wing of Delhi Public School (DPS), Bokaro, with an aim to promote and preserve India’s rich cultural heritage through music, dance, and art.

Principal Dr. A. S. Gangwar inaugurated the event, emphasizing the importance of upholding traditions in today’s rapidly globalizing world.

“Our students and teachers work tirelessly to keep alive the indigenous culture of our ancient land, which is our true identity,” Dr. Gangwar said while congratulating participants for their enthusiastic involvement.

Day One Highlights: Rhythms and Melodies Take Center Stage

The opening day featured an Inter-House Group Tabla Competition, where participants showcased intricate rhythmic compositions of Ek Taal with impressive coordination. Chenab House emerged victorious, followed by Jamuna House in second place and Sutlej House securing third.

The Solo Classical Vocal Competition captivated the audience with soulful renditions in various ragas. Arnav Raj (Ganga House) sang “Payal Bajan Laagi Re…” in Raga Jaunpuri, Geet Pathak (Jamuna House) performed “Kanha To Pe Jaoon…” in Raga Desh, and Utpal Verna Charukeshi (Jhelum House) rendered “Aaj More Ghar Aaye…” in Raga Malkouns.

Winners Announced for Solo Classical Vocal

Other notable performances included Shambhavi Goswami (Chenab House) with “Kaisi Ye Bhalai Re…” in Raga Bhairavi, Aryan Singh (Raavi House) with “Jag Karta Tu Hi…” in Raga Bhairav, and Piyush (Sutlej House) singing “Tu Daras Dikha…” in Raga Yaman.

Based on their performances, Utpal Verna Charukeshi (Jhelum House) bagged the first prize, Arnav Raj (Ganga House) secured second, and Piyush (Sutlej House) claimed third place. The panel of judges included J. P. Sinha, Mayank Kumar Bhakta, and Deepak Kumar Jha.
