Jamshedpur, August 6: The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued a weather advisory for Jharkhand, forecasting a spell of intense monsoon activity till this weekend, August 9 (Saturday).

Thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours are likely to affect several regions of the state, accompanied by strong gusty winds.

Daily Weather Outlook

August 6:

Scattered thunderstorms and lightning are expected across various parts of the state.

Localised downpours may disrupt outdoor activities.

August 7:

Heavy rainfall is likely over southern and north-eastern districts.

Thunderstorms with gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h may occur in isolated pockets.

August 8:

Continued rainfall activity with intense showers expected over south-eastern, north-eastern, and adjoining central areas.

Lightning and gusty winds remain a threat in vulnerable regions.

August 9:

Isolated thunderstorms and lightning are forecast to persist into the weekend.

Synoptic Overview

The monsoon trough now stretches from Amritsar through Patiala, Muzaffarnagar, Kheri, and Valmiki Nagar, extending towards Arunachal Pradesh near the Himalayan foothills.

An upper air cyclonic circulation lingers over north Bangladesh and adjoining regions, situated between 4.5 and 7.6 Km above sea level, fuelling the current weather instability.

Weather department officials have urged people to remain alert during storm periods, avoid open areas during lightning, and secure loose objects in case of gusty winds.

Farmers and daily commuters have been urged to plan accordingly and stay tuned to weather bulletins.

As per rainfall statistics, Jharkhand was currently facing a rain surplus of 45 % which is quite impressive.
