New Delhi, August 18: Opposition parties of the INDIA bloc continued their protest in Parliament on Monday, targeting the Election Commission’s ongoing voter list revision in Bihar, which they allege is designed to disenfranchise voters ahead of the assembly polls later this year.
Lawmakers from Congress, TMC, DMK, the Left, RJD and Samajwadi Party gathered outside the Makar Dwar of Parliament carrying banners and posters reading “vote chori” and “stop SIR,” while chanting slogans such as “vote chor, gaddi chhor.”

The demonstration was led by Congress president and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge.
Amid speculation that the opposition may even push for an impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Congress MP Naseer Hussain told reporters that they would explore “every democratic method” to ensure the country’s top election official remains unbiased.
Parliamentary proceedings have been repeatedly disrupted since the Monsoon Session opened on July 21, with little business taking place apart from discussions on Operation Sindoor, as opposition members continue to stall both Houses demanding a debate on the SIR.
