Ranchi, August 19: Suspended IAS officer Vinay Choubey, who has been in jail in connection with the Jharkhand liquor scam case, has received major relief. The ACB court granted him bail under Section 187(2) of the BNSS.
The court allowed bail on the condition that Choubey must inform the court before leaving the state while on bail.
Additionally, he cannot change his mobile number during the trial. The ACB court also required him to furnish two personal bonds of ₹25,000 each.

Despite Choubey’s arrest, the ACB has not filed a chargesheet against the accused even after 92 days, which led to his bail being granted. His counsel, Advocate Devesh Azmani, argued the case on his behalf.
Notably, on May 20, the ACB had summoned Choubey for questioning in connection with the liquor scam. After the interrogation, he was arrested.
At present, Choubey remains in judicial custody, while the state government has suspended him considering the serious allegations against him.
