Jamshedpur, August 23: A review meeting on the implementation of the PC & PNDT Act was convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi at the collectorate office here today.
The meeting focused on the functioning of registered sonography centers, compliance with regulations, and the status of pending applications.

Key issues such as installation of new machines under buy-back schemes, new registrations, addition of doctors’ names, change of location of centers, and disposal of pending applications were discussed in detail.

The Deputy Commissioner directed officials to ensure time-bound processing of all applications and to complete verification of centers that have applied for renewal or new registration without delay.
Satyarthi emphasized that the primary objective of the PC & PNDT Act is to prevent illegal practices such as sex determination and foetal gender testing.
He instructed all sonography centers to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Act, maintain registers, and update online entries regularly. He warned that any negligence or violation would invite stern action.
The DC further instructed for regular inspection of registered centers and immediate investigation of any complaint or suspicion of rule violations.

He also stressed on awareness activities to spread the message against foetal gender testing and female foeticide among the general public.
The meeting was attended by Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal, ACMO, DTO, DRCHO, and other concerned health officials.
