New Delhi, Sept 12: Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan, a veteran BJP leader and former governor, has been sworn in as the 15th Vice President of India.

The oath-taking ceremony took place on Friday at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, where President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office.

The occasion was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, along with several other BJP leaders.

Radhakrishnan, the NDA’s nominee, was elected to the post earlier this week after securing 452 votes, defeating Opposition candidate and former Supreme Court judge B. Sudershan Reddy, who got 300 votes.
