Dhanbad, Sept 20: Prachi Priya, a Class X student of De Nobili School, CIMFR, Dhanbad, has brought laurels to Jharkhand by winning a gold medal at the CISCE National Karate Championship held in Bangalore from September 16 to 18.
Competing in the girls’ under-17 category, Prachi defeated her Karnataka opponent 4-1 in the final to secure the top podium finish. Alongside her, Kritika Singh Rathore from Bokaro had also qualified for the national championship, representing Jharkhand.

This remarkable achievement marks the first time that a girl student from a Jharkhand school has won gold at the CISCE National Karate Championship. As Prachi returned to Dhanbad from Bangalore, she was given a grand welcome by sports enthusiasts, complete with a band party.

Speaking on her victory, Prachi said, “Representing Dhanbad and my school at the national level was a memorable moment. I had always dreamt of winning a medal at the national championship, and that dream came true in Bangalore.”
Her extraordinary achievement was also acknowledged by Dhanbad Sadar police station in-charge, who welcomed her along with his team.

Proud of his daughter’s success, Prachi’s father, Vimlesh Kumar Chouhan, said, “She has made Dhanbad and Jharkhand proud. This achievement proves that daughters are no less than sons in excelling in any field.”
