SUBHASH MISHRA
Dhanbad, Oct 2: Dr O.P. Mishra, Director of the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), New Delhi, and an alumnus of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, has been awarded the title of Honorary Professor by Vitus Bering Kamchatka State University, Russia.
An IIT (ISM) official said the honour recognises Dr Mishra’s pioneering work in seismology and marks a milestone in strengthening Indo-Russian scientific collaboration.
Academic and Professional Journey

Dr Mishra earned his M.Sc. Tech in Applied Geophysics from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, followed by a PhD and D.Sc. in Seismology from Ehime University, Japan. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from AIMA, New Delhi.
Three Decades of Contributions
With over 30 years of experience, Dr Mishra has worked with IDRC-Canada, served nearly two decades at the Geological Survey of India, led the SAARC Disaster Management Centre, and held a visiting professorship at Ehime University.

He has represented India and SAARC nations at UN forums and played a key role in disaster resilience projects funded by the UN and World Bank.
