Dhanbad, Oct 3: The fifth edition of the nationwide “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign, held from September 17 to October 2, concluded today at IIT-ISM Dhanbad with a series of activities marking Swachh Bharat Diwas.
On the final day, institute authorities, faculty members, students, and members of various organisations took a pledge to uphold cleanliness.
A rally was organised from the IIT-ISM campus to the Police Lines, where participants carried banners, raised slogans, and cleaned the roadside areas along the route.

The rally also spread awareness among shopkeepers, vendors, and the public about the importance of hygiene in daily life.
IIT-ISM Director Prof. Sukumar Mishra, Deepti Ladies Club president Sakuntala Mishra, Deputy Director Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Registrar Prabodh Pandey, along with deans, HoDs, faculty, officers, staff, research scholars, students, and members of Deepti Ladies Club, actively participated in the event.
Officials said the campaign featured several impactful initiatives, including cleanliness drives, transformation of identified areas, workshops in schools, drawing competitions for children, and other awareness activities.
The campaign was coordinated by the Centre of Societal Mission (CSM) in collaboration with the Sanitation Department and the Environmental Information, Awareness, Capacity Building and Livelihood Programme (EIACP) Centre of the Environmental Science & Engineering Department.

Prof. Sanjeev Sahu (Head, CSM), Prof. Deepika Sharma (Nodal Officer), Prof. Alok Sinha (Head, Environmental Science & Engineering), Dr. Dheeraj Kumar (Horticulture Officer), Kailash Mahto, along with faculty members, staff, and volunteers, played a key role in making the campaign a success.
