Kiwi pacer Kyle Jamieson ruled out of ODI series against Bangladesh

Dunedin, Dec 18: Due to his hamstring injury, New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson will miss the final two One-Day Internationals (ODIs) in New Zealand’s three-match series against Bangladesh.

Following the Kiwis’ tour of Bangladesh, Jamieson complained of hamstring discomfort. As a result, he was left out of the first 50-over match on Sunday in Dunedin.

After a year of recovering from a back ailment, the 28-year-old pacer who won Player of the Match in the first-ever ICC World Test Championship final in 2021 made his comeback in September 2023.

Ben Sears in ODI team

Ben Sears, despite limited experience, will continue to be part of the Blackcaps squad for the last two ODI matches. Jamieson is anticipated to recover in time for the three-match T20I series, set to commence in Napier on December 27.

New Zealand squad for ODIs: Tom Latham, Adi Ashok (matches 2 and 3), Finn Allen (match 3), Tom Blundell, Kyle Jamieson, Mark Chapman, Josh Clarkson, Jacob Duffy, Adam Milne, Henry Nicholls, Will O’Rourke, Rachin Ravindra, Will Young, Ben Sears.

Williamson to lead in T20I series

In the forthcoming Twenty20 international series, veteran batsman Kane Williamson will captain New Zealand’s T20I team against Bangladesh.

New Zealand T20 squad v Bangladesh: Kane Williamson (c), Finn Allen, Tim Seifert, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Jimmy Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Kyle Jamieson, Adam Milne, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Ben Sears.
