Dhanbad, Oct 22: The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, will host its annual techno-mining fest, Khanan, from October 25.

The two-day mega event is being organized by the Department of Mining Engineering in collaboration with the Society of Mining Engineers (SME) Students’ Chapter of IIT (ISM).

Organizers said Khanan aims to bring together aspiring mining and earth science students from across India to participate in a series of competitions, discussions, and workshops that combine academic learning with real-world problem-solving.

Prof. Devi Prasad Mishra, faculty advisor and convener of Khanan 2025, said that mining engineering is a dynamic and continuously evolving discipline that plays a crucial role in shaping the industrial and energy security of nations.

He added that industry professionals, including senior officials from Coal India Limited (CIL), experts from the metal mining sector, and distinguished academicians, will take part in a panel discussion on industry challenges and opportunities.
