Jamshedpur, Nov 4: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Sona Devi University, Ghatshila, organized a voter awareness campaign at Keetadih village, adopted by the university.

The initiative aimed to motivate rural citizens to exercise their right to vote and to increase voter turnout in the upcoming Ghatsila assembly by-election.

Students from various departments and faculty members enthusiastically participated in the campaign, which was led by NSS Nodal Officer Patrri Mali and NSS co-ordinator Shivchandra Jha.

The volunteers took out an awareness rally through the village, raising slogans on the importance of voting, and went door-to-door, urging residents to cast their votes responsibly.

Nodal officer Patrri Mali interacted especially with women voters, encouraging them to participate in the democratic process along with their families.

“Active participation of women in voting can significantly enhance the turnout and strengthen democracy,” she said.

Addressing the villagers, Shivchandra Jha emphasized that voting is not just a right but also a moral duty of every citizen.

“An aware voter is the true strength of democracy. The youth must inspire people around them to vote and contribute to making the electoral process successful,” he remarked.

He further highlighted the vital role of young voters in nation-building.

Registrar Gulab Singh Azad flagged off the awareness rally from the university campus, extending his best wishes to the students for the successful conduct of the campaign.
