SUBHASH MISHRA

Dhanbad, Nov 21: Managing Director of the Medical and Health Infrastructure Development and Procurement Corporation Limited (MHIDPCL), Abu Imran, carried out a detailed inspection of Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) on Friday and expressed dissatisfaction over the inadequate supply of medicines to patients.

During his inspection, which lasted over five hours, Abu Imran visited all wards, the emergency unit, OPDs and interacted with hospital staff and patients to assess facilities and service delivery.

He later held a meeting with Heads of Departments to review requirements and discuss measures to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential medicines.

Patients Report Partial Medicine Supply

The MHIDPCL MD specifically visited the medicine, surgery and other wards and spoke to admitted patients about their access to prescribed drugs. Several patients informed him that they received only part of their prescribed medicines from the hospital and were forced to purchase the remaining items from outside medical stores.

Taking strong note of this, Abu Imran directed hospital superintendent and principal in-charge Dr. D.K. Gindauria, along with senior hospital manager Dr. C.S. Suman, to ensure that patients receive the full prescribed course of medicines from the hospital supply.

‘Medicines Sent by Government Not Reaching Patients’

“Medicines are being supplied by the government, yet they are not visible in the wards. It is a matter of concern that patients are compelled to buy medicines from outside,” said Abu Imran during the review.

Directive to Submit Hospital Requirements

In the review meeting with Dr. Gindauria, Dr. Suman and department heads, Abu Imran instructed them to submit a comprehensive proposal outlining the hospital’s requirements at the earliest to improve healthcare services.

“I will ensure that the required items are sanctioned after discussing the proposal with the Additional Chief Secretary (Health),” he assured.
