Jamshedpur, Dec 2: Jharkhand witnessed a significant fall in temperatures on Tuesday, according to the latest weather report issued by IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre today.

The data, based on observations from IMD surface observatories and automated weather stations, shows a notable cold trend across multiple districts.

Jamshedpur recorded one of the steepest drops, with the maximum temperature plunging by 8.1°C, settling at 20.3°C, which is 8.1°C below normal.

Chaibasa also saw a sharp fall, with the maximum temperature dipping by 10°C compared to the previous day.

Ranchi reported a maximum temperature of 22.8°C, marking a 3.3°C drop below normal, while Daltonganj remained comparatively warmer at 27°C, only slightly below normal.

In terms of extremes recorded across automated stations, Godda registered the highest maximum at 27.3°C, while the lowest minimum temperature was logged at Khunti with 9.4°C.

Rainfall remained minimal across the state, with only light traces reported at Arki (Khunti), Bano (Simdega), Jamshedpur, and Maithon DVC.

Visibility concerns were noted in Jamshedpur, where the lowest visibility dropped to 800 meters today.

As winter conditions intensify, the state is expected to experience cooler days ahead, with more cold waves likely in the coming weeks.
