Dhanbad, Dec 3: The orientation program for the first batch of Government Engineering College (GEC), Godda was held today at the BIT Sindri campus.

Programme Held Due to Infrastructure Shortage

Since the newly established GEC Godda and GEC Bokaro do not yet have basic infrastructure to accommodate their new students, the orientation program for both institutions was organized in Dhanbad under the auspices of BIT Sindri.

The event was conducted at Bhaga Polytechnic College, arranged by BIT Sindri.

Chief Guest Highlights Importance of Technical Education

BIT Sindri Director Prof. Pankaj Rai, the chief guest, highlighted the importance of technical education in nation-building.
He encouraged students to make full use of the facilities available on campus.

Prof. Upendra Prasad, Director of GEC Bokaro and guest of honour, spoke about emerging engineering trends.
He urged students to maintain curiosity, integrity, and academic excellence.

The host, Prof. M. G. Tiwari, Director of GEC Godda, welcomed the students and emphasized the institute’s values, vision and commitment.

Students Briefed on Rules, Culture and Departments

  1. P. Mishra, Principal of Bhaga Polytechnic College, explained institutional culture, rules, regulations, and the importance of keeping a positive attitude toward learning.

Prof. Naresh Prasad Chaudhary, Head of the Mechanical and Mechatronics/Additive Manufacturing Department and administrative officer at GEC Godda, provided detailed information about his department.
He explained subjects such as Engineering Graphics, Engineering Mechanics, and Manufacturing Practices, stressing that no engineering program can function without Mechanical Engineering.

Prof. Amit Kumar Chaudhary, Head of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, briefed students on the academic roadmap and future opportunities in the power and electronics sector.

Prof. Rizwan Hasim, Head of Mining Engineering, guided students on field practices, safety values and industry-oriented learning.

Prof. Sachin Kumar Agrawal from the Computer Science and Engineering Department introduced students to basic coding concepts, digital technology trends and project-based learning.

Prof. Prabhakar from Mechanical and Mechatronics addressed the students on academic planning and career pathways.
