Jamshedpur, Dec 12: In a major crackdown on the illegal drug trade, Parsudih police conducted a late-night raid based on a confidential tip-off and arrested two youths with 18 pouches of brown sugar.

The operation took place near the Parsudih Market Committee and was led by Parsudih Police Station Officer-in-Charge Avinash Kumar.
Following the raid, the station in-charge lodged an FIR naming four accused.

Those booked include Ratan Baste alias Butru (23) of Bahagada near St. Anthony High School, Parsudih; Roshan Barla (26) of Somai Jhhopdi, Ghatrapada, Bagbera; a suspect identified as Manjhula from Bagbera; and Irfan from Mango. While Ratan and Roshan were apprehended during the raid, the other two managed to flee.
According to police sources, they had received information that a group of youths was planning to strike a drug deal near the market area.
Acting swiftly, the police cordoned off the location and nabbed the two suspects. A search led to the recovery of 18 pouches of brown sugar from their possession, which has been seized for further investigation.
The station in-charge stated that both arrested individuals have come under police custody for the first time. Interrogation is underway to trace the whereabouts of the remaining accused.

Police teams are conducting raids in potential hideouts to arrest the absconding Manjhula and Irfan.
Meanwhile, police have reiterated their commitment to intensifying the anti-drug drive in Parsudih and nearby areas.
The process to send the arrested accused to judicial custody is currently in progress.
