Ranchi, February 5: The three-day Jharkhand State Master Badminton Championship for players aged 35 years and above will begin at Gumla from February 6 to 8. The tournament will also serve as a team selection trial for the upcoming national-level championship.
Officials of the Jharkhand State Badminton Association said that players’ performances in this championship will form the basis for selecting the Jharkhand team for the 48th Indian Master (Veteran) Badminton Championship.
The Indian Master (Veteran) Badminton Championship is scheduled to be held in Goa from March 18 to March 25.

Multiple Age Groups and Events
Officials of the Gumla District Badminton Association said that the championship will feature competitions in the 35 years, 40 plus, 45 plus, 50 plus, 55 plus, 60 plus, 65 plus, 70 plus and 75 plus age categories, with events in men’s and women’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles across all age groups.

BAI ID Mandatory, National Referees to Officiate
The organisers clarified that only players holding a valid ID issued by the Badminton Association of India (BAI) will be eligible to participate in the championship.
Matches during the tournament will be officiated by a national panel of referees, ensuring adherence to official rules and standards.
The championship is expected to witness strong participation from veteran badminton players across Jharkhand and provide a competitive platform ahead of the national event.
