Cyclonic circulation to trigger rain, thunderstorms in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, March 6: Weather conditions across Jharkhand are likely to turn partly cloudy with chances of light rain and thunderstorms at isolated places over the next few days due to multiple atmospheric systems active over eastern India.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), an upper-air cyclonic circulation currently persists over north Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal at around 0.9 km above mean sea level.

Another upper-air cyclonic circulation is present over northeast Bangladesh and adjoining areas at around 1.5 km above mean sea level.

A trough is also extending from the central parts of north Uttar Pradesh to the cyclonic circulation over Odisha and West Bengal, passing through northeast Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh and south Jharkhand at the same altitude.

These synoptic weather conditions are expected to influence the weather pattern across Jharkhand during the coming days.

Rain, thunderstorm forecast for Jharkhand

On March 7, the state is likely to witness partly cloudy skies with light rain or thunderstorms at isolated places, particularly in the south-eastern districts.

Similar conditions may prevail in the eastern parts of Jharkhand on March 8.

On March 9, isolated rain and thunderstorm activity is likely over the north-eastern and adjoining central regions of the state.

Lightning alert in some districts

The sector-wise outlook suggests that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning may occur at isolated places, especially in the north-eastern and adjoining central districts around March 9.

Residents have been advised to remain cautious during thunderstorm activity.

Weather likely to improve after March 10

On March 10, partly cloudy conditions may persist with the possibility of isolated rain or thunderstorms in north-eastern Jharkhand.

By March 11, weather conditions across most parts of the state are expected to improve with mainly clear skies and dry conditions.

Overall, Jharkhand weather is expected to remain largely stable during the forecast period, with only scattered and brief rainfall episodes in some districts.
