“Three coal companies, Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) of Coal India Limited, Tata Steel Collieries and SAIL Chasnala mines operate in Dhanbad, but no company admits coal has been stolen from their mines. Responsible officers of these coal companies have lodged no FIR. Then it is a million-dollar question that such a large quantity of seized coal came from where in Dhanbad?” asked the senior Congress leader.

Singh, also an All-India Cong Committee (AICC) member, has said that CIL spends crores of rupees on the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for the safety of coal. Despite this, coal is frequently being stolen, which is only possible with the involvement of BCCL officials.

“I demand the deputy commissioner (DC) and senior superintendent of police (SSP) to lodge an FIR against BCCL management under the Damage of Proper Act and different provisions of IPC for the protection of national property.
