Guna road mishap: MP CM Yadav suspends two officials for negligence, visits victims

Guna, Dec 28: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday visited the district hospital in Guna to meet the victims of a tragic accident that resulted in 13 fatalities and 17 injuries. Additionally, two officials were suspended due to negligence.

Chief Minister Yadav instructed the suspension of the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) for failing to carry out vehicle inspections and the Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) for a delayed response in dispatching the fire brigade team to the accident site.

Following his visit to the accident victims, CM Yadav stated, “The incident occurred around 8:30 pm last night. 13 people have died in the accident. I am trying to get every possible detail of the accident and strict action will be taken against the responsible people in it.”

“After analysing the preliminary investigation, I have decided that the RTO will be suspended immediately for not conducting a check on vehicles and CMO will also be suspended for delayed response in sending the fire brigade team to the spot. Strict actions will also be taken against the high-level officials responsible for the incident,” he further stated.

13 dead, 17 injured in accident

At least 13 people were killed and 17 others were injured when a passenger bus collided with a dumper truck and caught fire on Guna-Aron road in the Guna district on Wednesday night, as per police. The Guna district hospital is providing medical care for the injured.

The Collector of Guna, Tarun Rathi stated, “13 people died and 17 sustained injuries in the accident. Those who are missing are also being searched and two authorities have been suspended. A case has been registered against the bus driver and bus operator in the matter.”

Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia for deceased’s family

KP Yadav, a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Guna Lok Sabha constituency, stated that the chief minister acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and offered the deceased’s family an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each.

“It is a tragic incident and the Chief Minister has taken the matter seriously. He has announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the family of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured. Action has also been taken against those who have been negligent, following which the RTO and CMO have been suspended,” KP Yadav stated.

Previously, CM Yadav initiated an inquiry into the incident, leading to the formation of a four-member investigation committee. The committee is expected to present its findings within three days.
