Railway officials said the week-long maintenance drive is aimed at strengthening rail infrastructure and ensuring safer operations. However, the work will impact passenger services on several key routes connecting Jharkhand and West Bengal.
The Tatanagar–Asansol MEMU (68055/68056) will run only up to Adra on July 28, 29, August 1 and 2. Services between Adra and Tatanagar will remain cancelled on these dates.
Similarly, the Asansol–Barabhum MEMU (68060) will operate only up to Adra on the same days, affecting passengers travelling between Adra and Asansol.

Railway authorities have also announced partial operational changes for the Asansol–Tatanagar–Asansol MEMU, though detailed timings will be notified separately.
Passengers advised to verify train status
The South Eastern Railway has advised passengers travelling through Tatanagar, Adra, Asansol, Purulia, Jhargram, Gomo and nearby stations to check the latest train schedules and operational status before starting their journey.
Officials said several trains will either remain cancelled or terminate before reaching their scheduled destinations because of the maintenance work.
