THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Daltonganj, August 15: Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore’s Independence Day speech at the Daltonganj Police Lines has become a topic of discussion in the town, with many listeners trying to interpret his remarks on extremism, organised crime and the state of law and order in Palamu.

Independence Day speeches by VIPs and VVIPs are usually forgotten soon after the celebrations end. Kishore’s address, however, drew attention for its strong language and pointed references to issues that continue to concern people in the region.

While praising the police for bringing extremism under control, Kishore also cautioned them about what he described as “urban extremism”, saying that the phenomenon still exists.

The minister did not explain the term in detail or spell out whom he was referring to. However, many in the gathering interpreted the remark as a reference to land grabbing and property-related crime, which have remained concerns in parts of Palamu.

Land is a particularly valuable commodity in urban areas, and allegations of illegal occupation and property disputes frequently surface. The minister’s remarks were therefore seen by many as a warning to those involved in such activities.

Cryptic reference to organised crime

Kishore also made a pointed appeal to the police to ensure that no “XYZ”, “Bhoot Kaal” or “Bhavishya Kaal” could disturb peace in Palamu.

His use of these expressions immediately attracted attention, with people trying to understand whether they carried a deeper message.

According to police sources, the reference to “XYZ” was interpreted by some as an indirect reference to a person known locally as “W” (Dabloo) Singh, who has allegedly been associated with organised crime in the past.

Police sources said Singh is currently serving a six-month externment order imposed by the Palamu police. In recent times, he has reportedly been attempting to rebuild his public image by appearing at social events.

Kishore’s cryptic reference to the alphabet “XYZ” was therefore seen by some listeners as a veiled message aimed at keeping such elements away from activities that could disturb law and order.

‘Bhoot Kaal’ and ‘Bhavishya Kaal’ also draw attention

The minister’s references to “Bhoot Kaal” (past) and “Bhavishya Kaal” (future) also became a subject of discussion.

According to police sources, some listeners interpreted the expressions as an indirect reference to a person known as “Maha Kaal”, who is wanted in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of realtor Vinit Tiwary in Daltonganj around three months ago.

Police have not yet arrested Maha Kaal, whose whereabouts remain unknown. Three other accused in the murder case have already been arrested and are in judicial custody.

‘Never easy to decode Kishore’

Kishore is known for making candid and often pointed public statements, including comments aimed at political opponents and other adversaries.

Speaking to The Jharkhand Story Network, political strategists described his style as deliberately layered.

“It is never easy to decode Kishore. His utterances are multi-layered,” a political strategist said.

His Independence Day speech, therefore, has generated considerable discussion in Daltonganj—not merely for what the minister said, but also for what many believe he chose to imply without naming anyone directly.
