Jamshedpur, September 28: East Singhbhum police have stepped up night patrolling across Jamshedpur as part of an intensified preventive policing drive to curb crime and strengthen security after dark.
The extensive operation, led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ehtesham Waqarib, saw multiple police units deployed simultaneously across the city.
Tiger Mobile, Tango Teams Deployed Across City
The coordinated night patrol involved Tiger Mobile units, Tango teams, police vehicles equipped with public-address systems, highway patrol units and personnel from various police stations.
The teams covered major roads as well as residential lanes, neighbourhoods, intersections, markets and other sensitive locations.
Police Keep Watch on Vulnerable Locations
Patrolling was intensified in areas that remain relatively deserted at night and locations where groups frequently gather late into the night.
Police teams kept a close watch on suspicious persons, vehicles and activities during the operation. Personnel were directed to remain alert at sensitive locations and monitor local activities instead of limiting patrols to major thoroughfares.
The patrol teams also moved into inner lanes and residential neighbourhoods, expanding police visibility beyond the city’s main roads.
Focus on Preventive Policing
Officials said the exercise was aimed not merely at responding to crimes after they occur but at preventing criminal activity through a visible and sustained police presence.
The increased deployment is also intended to reassure residents and deter anti-social elements from engaging in unlawful activities.
Police officials said regular and sustained patrolling would help maintain pressure on habitual offenders and prevent suspicious gatherings and activities that could potentially lead to crime.
Personnel have also been instructed to remain responsive to information received from local residents.

Police Appeal for Public Cooperation
Police have appealed to residents to immediately inform the nearest police station or the emergency response system about any suspicious person, vehicle or activity noticed in their neighbourhood.
According to police officials, intensified night patrolling will continue in the coming days, with additional deployment and closer monitoring of vulnerable locations wherever required.
The initiative is part of the East Singhbhum Police strategy to strengthen preventive policing, night-time security and police visibility and provide a safer environment for residents across Jamshedpur.
