IIT (ISM) Dhanbad signs MoU with Urja Mobility for clean-tech research

Dhanbad, Oct 1: IIT (ISM) Dhanbad has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Urja Mobility, a brand of Mtow Mobility Private Limited, to strengthen industry-academia collaboration in clean technology, Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS), green mobility and the circular economy.

The MoU was signed on September 30 at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad in the presence of Director Prof Sukumar Mishra, who interacted with Urja Mobility executives and discussed potential areas for research collaboration.

Prof Mishra shared insights into the institute’s research capabilities and the scope for undertaking industry-oriented research to address emerging challenges in the energy and electric mobility sectors.

IIT (ISM), Urja Mobility to explore joint research

The MoU was signed by Pankaj Chopra, Founder and Director, Urja Mobility; Anagh Ojha, Co-Founder and Director, Urja Mobility; Prof Parthasarathi Das, Dean (Research & Development), IIT (ISM) Dhanbad; Prof Shikha Singh and Prof Ejaz Ahmad.

Prof Alok Das, Dean (Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship and Corporate Relations), was also present.

The partnership will provide a framework for joint research, faculty-industry interaction, identification of industry challenges and development of technology-driven solutions in areas such as electric mobility, energy systems, clean technology and sustainable resource management.

Industry-academia interaction focuses on sustainable mobility

The MoU signing was part of an industry-academia interaction organised by the Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering under the theme “Charged for Impact.”

The programme featured industry sessions focusing on sustainable mobility, energy and recycling.

Pankaj Chopra spoke on “From Strategy to Sustainable Scale”, highlighting battery leasing for electric vehicles and business development.

Anagh Ojha addressed “It’s All About Energy”, focusing on energy and EV technologies, product development and commercialisation.

Raman Sharma, Promoter and Managing Director of Exigo Recycling Pvt Ltd, spoke on “Second Life to End Life”, highlighting recycling and circular economy practices.

Focus on clean mobility and circular economy

The collaboration is expected to strengthen IIT (ISM) Dhanbad’s industry engagement and facilitate research-based solutions in sustainable mobility, energy management and resource optimisation.

The partnership also provides a platform for closer interaction between academia and industry in developing technologies and solutions aimed at addressing emerging challenges in clean energy and electric mobility.
