Jharkhand News: Manipal Tata Medical College donates 20,000 haemoglobin test strips

Jamshedpur, Jan. 3: In an initiative under corporate social responsibility (CSR), Manipal Tata Medical College has provided 20,000 Haemoglobin test strips to the District Administration, East Singhbhum, at the request of Civil Surgeon.

The test strips, given by the Manipal Foundation, will facilitate Haemoglobin tests across the district, focusing on students above STD 8 in all Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalayas and pregnant women.

Severe anaemia

The primary objective of this CSR event is to identify severe anaemia patients who may be unable to afford these tests or are unaware of their condition. The initiative aims to make a lifesaving contribution to victims of severe anaemia, particularly among students and pregnant women.

This contribution is expected to significantly contribute to the well-being of frail patients, enabling the district administration to monitor and provide proper medication for their recovery.

The event took place on the Manipal Tata Medical College campus in Baridih, where 20,000 test strips were handed over to Dr. Jujhar Majhi, Civil Surgeon, East Singhbhum.

Donation ceremony

The donation ceremony witnessed the presence of key figures, including Dr Harish Chandra Bandhu, Associate Dean (Clinical) and HOD – Gynae Dept, Professor Rajiva Dwivedi, Director – Academic Administration and Quality Director, Dr. Vijay Kautilya, Associate Dean (Para Clinical) and HOD- Forensic Dept,  Jai Prakash, Legal Dept,  Kshitij Mohan – Head General Administration,  Priyanka Singhal – PR/Legal, Dr. Maheshwar Prasad, Head Outreach Dept, and  Kanhaiya Upadhyay – Chief of Security Officer.

Manipal Academy of Higher Education

Manipal Tata Medical College, as a constituent unit of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), an Institution of Eminence (IoE), is dedicated to providing quality medical education and healthcare services. This CSR initiative underscores the college’s commitment to societal well-being by contributing to the early detection and treatment of severe anaemia.

Manipal Tata Medical College, situated in Jamshedpur, offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate medical programmes. As part of an Institution of Eminence, it upholds high standards of education and healthcare. With state-of-the-art facilities and a dedicated faculty, MTMC aims to train future healthcare professionals and make meaningful contributions to community health.

This CSR event reflects the college’s commitment to social responsibility and stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts between educational institutions and the district administration in addressing healthcare challenges within the community.
