Dhanbad, Jan 5: Employees of the Dhanbad Rail Division under the East Central Railway (ECR) zone will observe a day-long hunger strike on January 8 for the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).

All India Railway Mens’ Federation zonal secretary OP Sharma and  East Central Railway Karmchari Union (ECRKU) Dhanbad Rail Division media spokesperson NK Khawas today jointly announced that for repealing of the New Pension Scheme (NPS) and implementation of OPS, all employees would hold hunger strike.

On January 8, employees at the Dhanbad DRM office premises and other places in the division will sit on hunger strike from 10 am to 5 pm.

“Though the central government has set up a committee for suggestions in the New Pension Scheme for the betterment of employees’ pension, all employees organizations have made it clear to the central government that employees would accept nothing than OPS,” said OP Sharma and NK Khawas.

Railway employee leaders said the state government has adopted the Old Pension Scheme. Even the Maharashtra Government has adopted it. So railway employees are geared up for agitation to get OPS.

Divisional leaders Netaji Subhash, Somen Dutta, BK Dubey Indra Mohan Singh and BK Saw will sit on a hunger strike.
