Ranchi, Jan 6: To provide livelihood resources and promote women empowerment, 35 Sidho –Kanho Agriculture and Forest Produce Cooperative Limited (SIDHKOFED) farmers were offered special training for Tasar culture activities here at Central Tasar Research Training Institute (CTRTI).

CTRTI Director Dr NB Choudhary informed selected farmers about various aspects of the Tasar industry and the role of the training programme in promoting the activities.

Earlier in the morning, while inaugurating the day-long training and field experience programme for farmers, the Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (APCCF) cum chief executive officer (CEO) SIDHKOFED, highly appreciated the activities of CTRTI and its scientists, as well as officials for promoting Tasar in the state.

Livelihood for rural people

“The core theme and objective of this training programme is to generate livelihood for the rural people and promote women empowerment. Aware them of significant potential forest produce management and business to enhance the livelihood of farmers,” said Sanjiv Kumar, also CEO of the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA).

During the training programme, officials and scientists of the Institute also discussed a collaboration approach for the promotion of Tasar culture in Jharkhand.

“This approach was extensively discussed to finalise the vision plan for the Federation,” said Kumar.

Farmers take view of CTRTI farm

Women empowerment

The CEO emphasised two points- livelihood and women empowerment.

CTRTI Director Dr . N.B. Choudhary assured us of all possible technical support to implement the successful training programme.

The officials and the selected 35 farmers also visited various aspects of CTRTI Ranchi, including the farm, fields, museum, and laboratories. The training programme concluded with enthusiasm and a vision for the future of Tasar culture in Jharkhand.

Dr Vishal Mittal conducted the training programme, while Dr JP Pandey proposed a vote of thanks.
